San Francisco, CA. Energy startup Sierro is introducing a new approach to home backup power, with its first product set to launch on Kickstarter around May 2026. The company plans to offer early bird pricing, with the 1000Wh model reduced from $419 to $293, and the 2000Wh version from $799 to $559.
Thanks to its compact size and slim form factor, Sierro is designed to fit into tight spaces, whether in a corner of the home or right next to essential appliances. This allows it to stay connected at all times, enabling seamless, automatic backup when the power goes out. Unlike conventional generators or portable power stations, it requires no installation and works as a true plug and play solution.

The company’s first product focuses on a common but costly issue, food spoilage during outages. A single power outage can lead to an average of around $380 in lost food. By keeping refrigerators running without interruption, Sierro aims to help households avoid waste while maintaining normal routines.
Beyond refrigerators, the system can also support other critical devices such as CPAP machines, Wi Fi routers, and aquariums, helping maintain connectivity, health, and stability during power disruptions.

Sierro brings industrial grade lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) battery technology, typically used in large scale energy systems, into a compact home backup. Built with LiFePO₄ cells for enhanced stability and thermal safety, the system is designed for long term use, with a lifespan of up to 20 years. It also features Sierro’s FusionCore™ integration and PowerSense™ monitoring system, enabling a smaller, more stable design with continuous safety management suitable for everyday home environments.

The founding team brings more than a decade of experience in energy systems and consumer electronics, including prior work on widely adopted home energy products. With Sierro, the team is taking a different approach. Instead of building larger, more complex systems, the company is focusing on backup power that lives directly alongside the devices people rely on most.
